This year is off to a great start with the arrival of Marta’s new full length album “Rebel Baby” available through Digital outlets, iTunes &  Amazon or CD Baby for the hard copy.

Marta’s participation at Canadian Music Week as part of the Hummel Entertainment showcase at the Library Bar was a huge success so thank you for making the night special and all of the early bird buyers of “Rebel Baby”.

Marta travels to Charlottetown, PEI Canada this April 13th to participate in the East Coast Music Week and Awards in addition to performing at this years NXNE music festival 13-19 June.

With three U.S Tours planned this year taking in Illinois, Wisconsin, California, and Connecticut sponsored by YES Vodka, it’s sure to be a creative year for Marta.

The Toronto sessions will complement a series of recordings from NYC where she worked with emerging artist and producer Peirson Ross and Canadian Ex-patriot Jason Mercer .

While on the European leg of her tour, Marta seized an opportunity to self-produce an additional 6 tracks in Lecco Lake Italy. Months of pre-production work on her own gave her the confidence to direct Italian (English speaking) musician’s of a high caliber to shape up the songs the way she heard them. Among those musician’s were, Flute maestro Igor Fomichenko, Europe’s renowned world/folk artist Davide Van de sfroos’s classical/folk violinist Anga Persico, bassist Maurizio Rocca, Pianist Antonio Quartarone, classical guitarist Franco Giaffreda and Marta’s long time percussionist/drummer and friend Andrea Paradiso.

Her forthcoming album titled Rebel baby is scheduled for release in the Australian Summer Feb 2011.  More to come…..



Khanna had been in NYC in October 09 and witnessed an early performance of the song in a candle lit hotel room in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and had a vision to re-create what he experienced as an ‘intimate confession’.

His vision was to record the vocals with a boom mic using the natural acoustics of the room as apposed to the traditional process of syncing to a pre-recorded track. The music video was shot at the infamous ‘Hotel Chelsea’ in a palatial suite with soaring ceilings and wooden floors yielding fabulous live acoustics.

In ‘Annie’, Khanna pays homage to french cinema with Marta showing an uncanny resemblance to a young Catherine Deneuve while delivering an emotionally vulnerable portrayal of a woman (Annie) who is haunted by a life of detachment and lust. Marta says the song is not autobiographical, rather an observation of the complex human instinct to seek intimacy, validation and ultimately acceptance.

Marta recently opened for Seymour on Ontario dates, and is now often gigging around town. OTB caught her at The Gladstone, and was impressed by her clean and pure vocals (AIMEE MANN is one reference point), her fine band (including former CRYBABY members), and melodic material that mixed pop and roots elements. The ballad “Isabella” shone, and a spirited cover of THE WATERBOYS’ “Fisherman’s Blues” closed out the set. We caught just a few songs of the next band, THE HUNTING HORNS. Their dramatic songs displayed a NICK CAVE influence, which is never a bad thing.
